Jakarta – Secretary of State of the United States, Anthony J Blinken, congratulated Prabowo Subianto as the elected president of Indonesia in the 2024 presidential election.
Blinken’s congratulations were released in a press statement dated Wednesday (20/3) on the official website of the US Department of State.
“We offer sincere congratulations to the elected President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, on his victory,” Blinken said.
“And once again, we commend the Indonesian people for the number of voters and their strong commitment to democracy and the rule of law,” he continued.
Blinken also emphasized that the US and Indonesia have had diplomatic relations for 75 years based on democracy and pluralism. He described Indonesia as a close partner and friend, working together to provide a better future for their respective citizens.
“We look forward to partnering closely with President-elect Subianto and his government when he takes office in October,” Blinken said.
Previously, on March 14, Prabowo received congratulations from US President Joe Biden through a letter with the White House letterhead delivered by the US Ambassador to ASEAN, Yohannes Abraham, to Prabowo.
“Congratulations to the people of Indonesia on the successful election – a testament to our collective commitment to democracy – and to you, for your excellence in the presidential election vote counting,” Biden said.
Today, Wednesday, the General Elections Commission (KPU) has completed the national recapitulation of the 2024 Presidential Election results and declared the pair number 2, Prabowo and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as the winners of the 2024 Presidential Election.
The results of the 2024 Presidential Election are based on the KPU decree number 218/PL.01.08-BA/05/2024.
Based on the KPU recapitulation results, Prabowo-Gibran won with a total of 96,214,691 valid votes out of a total of 164,227,475 valid votes nationwide. This pair was recorded to be the winner in 36 provinces. (SENOPATI)
