Prabowo Subianto’s Busy Schedule Takes Him from Singapore to Yogyakarta and Back to Jakarta

Prabowo Subianto, the President-elect for the 2024-2029 term and Minister of Defense of Indonesia, had a packed schedule from Friday to Monday, filled with various activities.

Starting on Friday, Prabowo traveled to Singapore to attend and speak at the IISS Shangri-la Dialogue, an international forum that saw the participation of leaders and defense ministers from different countries. Upon his arrival in Singapore on Friday afternoon, he attended the Gala Dinner at the IISS Shangri-la Dialogue, where he interacted with high-ranking officials from other countries, such as US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Timor Leste President Ramos Horta.

On Saturday morning, Prabowo visited the Istana in Singapore to meet with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong before heading to the Shangri-La Hotel to participate in the IISS Shangri-la Dialogue. Prior to his speech at the forum, Prabowo engaged in a bilateral meeting with Lloyd Austin and later addressed the audience, discussing Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to provide aid to Gaza and readiness to send peacekeeping troops if requested by the UN.

Following his speech, Prabowo held separate bilateral meetings with officials from different countries, including Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren, Swedish Defense Minister Pal Jonson, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On Sunday morning, Prabowo returned to Indonesia and visited Yogyakarta, where he delivered national guidance to Military Basic Education Scholars and Cadets at the Military Academy (Akmil) and toured educational facilities at SMA Taruna Nusantara. He also took the time to visit retired General Subagyo Hadi Siswoyo (HS).

Continuing his activities on Monday, Prabowo inspected the installation of clean water pipes in Kalurahan Banyusoco, Playen, Gunungkidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta, alongside the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) of RI and the Defense University (Unhan) of RI. This assistance aimed to address the clean water crisis in the community and improve agricultural activities.

After the visit to Gunungkidul, Prabowo returned to Jakarta to resume work at the Ministry of Defense and meet with guests, including the Ambassador of New Zealand Kevin Burnett.
