Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, the President-elect for the 2024-2029 term and Minister of Defense, paid a visit to his former superior from his time as an active soldier, retired General Subagyo Hadi Siswoyo (HS), at his residence in Gondokusuman, Yogyakarta, on Sunday (2/6).
During the meeting, Subagyo congratulated Prabowo on being awarded the honorary four-star general rank at the end of February 2024.
“I want to congratulate you specifically on the four-star general rank. It reflects Mas Bowo’s proven quality,” Subagyo remarked.
Expressing his gratitude, Prabowo thanked Subagyo for the warm reception and mentioned that it was his first visit after the conclusion of the 2024 presidential election.
“I have wanted to visit many times, and finally, I managed to do so. This is my initial trip to Yogyakarta following the Presidential Election,” Prabowo stated.
He added, “Thank you, Mr. Bagyo.”
Retired General Subagyo HS was Prabowo’s commander while he served in the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) from 1994-1995. Subagyo’s position in 1995 was later assumed by Prabowo, who was appointed as the Commander of Kopassus.
Aside from leading the red berets, Subagyo also held the position of Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD) under three presidential administrations, including the reigns of Soeharto, Abdurrahman Wahid, and Megawati Soekarnoputri.
Furthermore, he served as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) during President Joko Widodo’s tenure in office.
