Prabowo Subianto Emphasizes the Significance of a Safe and Shielded Nation

Prabowo Subianto, the Minister of Defense, recently spoke to 906 cadet officers from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri) in Jakarta. He emphasized the importance of these cadets becoming strong and outstanding soldiers and police officers.

During his speech, Prabowo highlighted the primary goal stated in the preamble of the 1945 Constitution, which is to protect the entire Indonesian nation and all of its territories. He stressed the significance of protection as the first goal, followed by advancing welfare, education, and implementing world order.

Prabowo emphasized that development would be meaningless if the nation cannot protect its citizens. He questioned the purpose of building infrastructure like skyscrapers, ports, airports, railways, highways, or dams if the nation is not safe and protected.

Therefore, Prabowo underscored the crucial role of the TNI and Polri in protecting the Indonesian nation. He described their entrance into these institutions as part of the national goal, emphasizing the need for a strong army and police force for the survival of the nation.

Prabowo reminded the cadets that the fate of the nation and its people rests on their shoulders. He urged them to defend the homeland when the time comes, as they have been chosen and trained for this purpose.

Furthermore, Prabowo referenced a study by Harvard University on civilizations that have lasted over 300 years. The study identified three key elements present in such civilizations: a superior military, superior intelligence (police), and superior bureaucracy (civil service).

Prior to Prabowo’s speech, Vice President Ma’ruf Amin also provided guidance to the TNI-Polri cadet officers of 2024 at Balai Sudirman. He urged them to be responsive and proactive in addressing public complaints.

The event was attended by senior officials, including the Commander of the TNI, Chief of the National Police, Chiefs of Staff of the military branches, and other officials from the TNI and Polri.
