Moscow – Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect, referred to Russia as a ‘good friend’ and expressed his desire to continue strengthening the relationship.
During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday (31/7), Prabowo stated, “It should be noted that Russia has assisted us (Indonesia) in various ways during challenging times. Russia supported us during those difficult moments.”
He also highlighted Russia’s support in enhancing Indonesia’s defense and military capabilities. As the Defense Minister, Prabowo underscored the robust collaboration between Indonesia and Russia.
“I am here to emphasize that this partnership will continue once I officially assume the presidency of Indonesia on October 20,” he added.
Furthermore, Prabowo mentioned his active communication and discussions with Putin’s team, particularly regarding the defense industry.
“I have engaged with key officials in the defense industry and have been deliberating extensively over the past few months on a roadmap to strengthen cooperation between Indonesia and Russia,” Prabowo concluded.
