Australian Cadets Inspired by the Discipline and Dedication of Indonesian Cadets During Visit to Magelang Military Academy

Cadets from the Royal Military College-Duntroon (RMC-D) in Australia were impressed by the discipline and hard work of Indonesian cadets during their recent visit to the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang. The visit was part of the signing of an enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement between Indonesia and Australia, attended by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Richard Marles, at the invitation of Indonesia’s Defense Minister, Prabowo Subianto.

Australian cadet Maxwell Jon Kiernan praised the strong work ethic and discipline of the Indonesian cadets at Akmil. Similarly, Lola Kathleen May Charles from RMC-D was inspired by the dedication of the Indonesian cadets to their training and studies.

Captain Damon Radford, an exchange officer accompanying the Australian cadets, mentioned that ten Australian cadets took part in various activities with the Indonesian cadets during their nine-day visit. They participated in mentoring sessions, English classes, and visited cultural landmarks like Borobudur and Prambanan temples, as well as cities like Yogyakarta and Semarang.

The visit was part of the Foreign Academy Exchange Program (FAEP) aimed at strengthening cooperation between Australia and Indonesia. Minister Prabowo Subianto himself was a participant in the FAEP at RMC-D in 1974, highlighting the importance of such exchanges in enhancing skills and relationships between the two countries.

The program will continue with Indonesian cadets visiting Australia from October 10-21, further promoting mutual understanding and cooperation between the cadets of both countries.
