Jakarta — Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia’s 8th President, was seen accompanying former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Iriana Jokowi to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta on Sunday afternoon (October 20). They were preparing to return to Solo.
Jokowi’s return to Solo followed the Presidential and Vice-Presidential Inauguration Ceremony for the 2024–2029 term and the official transition ceremony from Jokowi to Prabowo.
Prabowo led a convoy escorting Jokowi, which included the Indonesian-made Maung Garuda vehicle. Upon arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Prabowo accompanied Jokowi as he boarded the TNI AU Boeing B737 A7309, which would take him back to his hometown of Solo.
In a message to Prabowo, Jokowi expressed, “I hand over the hopes, dreams, and great aspirations of 248 million Indonesians to President General (Ret.) Prabowo Subianto, and may he be granted the strength to lead this great nation.”
Prabowo, in return, offered his best wishes and mentioned that Jokowi has always encouraged him to stay strong and bear the immense responsibility for the nation and its people.
“Yes, we are praying for the best. He (Jokowi) has always told me to pray that I have the strength to bear this great responsibility,” Prabowo said.
After seeing off Jokowi as he departed for Solo, President Prabowo headed back to the Presidential Palace to continue with his next official duties. (RR)
