Ministers Meeting on Sritex Workers Reemployment

Several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to address the situation of PT Sritex employees who were recently laid off. The primary objective of the meeting was to find solutions for the affected workers, following a directive from Prabowo. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

Prasetyo underscored the president’s deep concern for the workers and stressed the urgency of resolving the challenges faced by PT Sritex since its declaration of bankruptcy in October 2024. The aim is to reemploy approximately 8,000 employees in the textile sector with a new work arrangement. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s efforts to potentially rehire former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.

Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to providing support and guidance is expected to bring relief to the laid-off PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively working to protect the rights of PT Sritex Group employees by ensuring they receive appropriate compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new framework, which will pave the way for the reemployment of the affected workers. This initiative aims to bring stability to the impacted employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
