President Prabowo Subianto is confident that Indonesia will achieve net-zero carbon emissions as scheduled, making it one of the first countries to reach this milestone. In a video conference focusing on renewable energy development and oil production expansion in East Java, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s ability to efficiently generate energy and reduce costly logistics chains. He stressed the importance of energy independence in realizing the country’s vision of national sovereignty. The government’s strategic plan involves launching 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to deliver clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago. Prabowo applauded the collaborative efforts of ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil in supporting Indonesia’s energy transformation. While recognizing the significant oil and gas reserves in the country, he emphasized the crucial role of renewable energy, especially solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide. Prabowo remains optimistic about Indonesia’s future, highlighting solar energy as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. By harnessing renewable energy sources, Indonesia can lead the way towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
