Prabowo Unveils Record-breaking Rp 757.8 Trillion Education Budget for 2026

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized his government’s unwavering dedication to the education sector during his State Budget 2026 Financial Note presentation at the House of Representatives’ plenary session. He announced a record allocation of Rp 757.8 trillion for education, underscoring the importance of high-quality education in producing globally competitive human resources and eradicating poverty. Prabowo highlighted the need for effective utilization of education funds, focusing on enhancing teacher welfare and quality, strengthening vocational training, and aligning curricula with labor market requirements. The budget breakdown includes funding for various educational programs and initiatives such as the Smart Indonesia Program, scholarships for university students, and school/campus facility upgrades. Prabowo also outlined plans to enhance educational opportunities for underprivileged children through People’s Schools and Garuda Excellence Schools, along with the expansion of scholarship programs. The President concluded by emphasizing the need to boost Indonesia’s proficiency in STEM fields, urging progress in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
