Prabowo Promises to End Poverty Cycle

President Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to improving the lives of the underprivileged through various flagship initiatives aimed at addressing immediate needs and breaking the cycle of poverty for future generations. Initiatives such as Sekolah Rakyat, Kopdes Merah Putih, and MBG are crucial in achieving this goal. During a discussion at the Gatotkaca Volunteer Center in South Jakarta, Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono emphasized the importance of these programs in restoring dignity to those living in poverty and preventing the intergenerational transfer of economic struggles. The Sekolah Rakyat program, in particular, aims to provide education as a means to uplift children born into poverty and ensure a better future for them.

Poverty eradication is a key focus of President Prabowo’s administration, with ambitious targets set to eliminate extreme poverty by 2026 and reduce the overall national poverty rate to below 5 percent by 2029. The administration’s three-pronged strategy to combat poverty includes initiatives such as the People’s School, Red-and-White Village Cooperatives, and Free Health Checks in Schools. The Cek Kesehatan Gratis program, which provides free health checks, has already benefitted 10 million Indonesians and aims to reach 50 million more by the year’s end. By empowering local economies and creating new job opportunities, initiatives like the Red-and-White Village Cooperatives aim to foster self-sufficiency and community empowerment.

President Prabowo is set to launch the Kopdes Merah Putih program with a goal of establishing 80,000 cooperatives nationwide. These cooperatives serve as a model for village empowerment, allowing communities to meet their own needs and generate livelihoods independently. With a strong commitment to uplifting the poor and breaking the cycle of poverty, President Prabowo’s administration is working towards achieving a more prosperous and sustainable future for all Indonesians.
