Jakarta – Indonesia’s newly elected President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka for the 2024–2029 term were inaugurated in a historic event that saw the presence of several VVIPs, including heads of state, prime ministers, and vice presidents. A total of 19 world leaders and 15 special envoys attended the ceremony, with notable figures such as Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, and Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.

Khairul Fahmi, an analyst from the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISSES), commented that Prabowo’s inauguration as Indonesia’s 8th president signifies a new phase in the country’s global diplomacy.

“The presence of international leaders at this event in Jakarta is a significant acknowledgment and endorsement of Prabowo’s leadership,” Fahmi stated during an interview.

He mentioned that the participation of delegations from major countries like China and the United States indicates not only a formal recognition of Prabowo’s election win but also showcases Indonesia’s potential as a strategic partner in addressing global issues.

Fahmi added, “This event is a representation of the diplomatic efforts Prabowo has cultivated over the years, resulting in strong relationships with leaders from various nations.”

He also highlighted the symbolism behind the attendance of global leaders, signifying hopes for enhanced cooperation in politics, economics, and security under Prabowo’s leadership.

“This demonstrates their confidence that Indonesia, under Prabowo’s guidance, will actively contribute to shaping regional and global security,” Fahmi continued.

Fahmi praised Prabowo’s personal approach to diplomacy with world leaders, citing his visits to China, Japan, and Turkey as examples of his dedication to maintaining strong international ties.

“The presence of these leaders in Jakarta indicates that Indonesia, under Prabowo’s leadership, is a substantial player on the global stage,” Fahmi emphasized.

He also emphasized that the leaders’ attendance reflects confidence in Indonesia’s ability to lead the region, especially in addressing key issues like maritime security, climate change, and strengthening ASEAN cooperation.

“This inauguration marks a significant milestone in garnering international support and cooperation,” he stated.

Fahmi expressed optimism about Indonesia’s future under Prabowo’s leadership, believing that this event is just the beginning of Indonesia’s journey to establish itself as a strategic global partner.

“Over the next five years, Prabowo will enhance Indonesia’s diplomacy and position the country as a key partner. This inauguration marks the start of a long journey, and the world is ready to witness Indonesia’s impact on the global stage under Prabowo’s leadership,” Fahmi concluded. (RR)
